Wherewhy terms of use and licence

These terms apply to the Wherewhy app and the online service it uses. Wherewhy is made by Single Hand Studio ("we"). By using Wherewhy you agree to these terms. Our privacy policy explains how data is handled.

Licence

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Wherewhy on devices you own or control, for your own record keeping. You may not resell, sublicense or redistribute the app, or use it to build a competing service. Open-source components included in the app remain under their own licences.

What Wherewhy is, and is not

• Wherewhy reads public Solana blockchain data and helps you add your own context to it. It is a record-keeping tool.
• It is not tax, accounting, legal or financial advice, and it does not prepare tax returns.
• Explanations of transactions are automatic and can be incomplete or wrong. Anything Wherewhy is unsure about is marked for your review rather than guessed. Check anything important against the blockchain record, which the app links to.
• Imported history can be incomplete. The app shows what range it covers and warns where activity may be missing.

Your wallet and your records

• You stay in control of your wallet. Wherewhy never asks for your seed phrase or private keys, and never moves your assets. The only transaction it asks your wallet to sign is a Pro purchase you choose to make.
• Your notes, labels and imported history are stored on your device. You are responsible for keeping backups: uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes them, and only an encrypted backup you saved can restore them.

Wherewhy Pro

• Pro is a one-time purchase, paid on the Solana blockchain in SKR or USDC from your own wallet. The price is shown on a review screen before your wallet asks you to approve the payment. An SKR price is set from SKR's US dollar market price when the quote is made.
• "Lifetime" means for as long as we offer Wherewhy. Pro belongs to the wallet that paid, and can be restored on a device where that wallet is verified.
• Blockchain payments cannot be reversed by us automatically. If something went wrong with a purchase, email us and we will look into it.
• The Seeker trial gives 30 days of Pro, once per Seeker Genesis Token and once per wallet. It costs nothing and does not renew.
• If Pro or a trial ends, nothing you made is hidden or removed.

The online service

Signing in, importing history, the Seeker trial and Pro purchases use our server and third-party providers. They may occasionally be slow or unavailable, and daily limits apply to activity checks. Your records on your device stay available either way. We may change features, limits or prices in future versions; a purchase keeps what it included.

Do not misuse the service: for example, by trying to get around its limits, overload it, or access data that is not yours.

No warranty and limitation of liability

Wherewhy is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent permitted by law. We are not liable for losses arising from decisions made using the app, from errors or gaps in blockchain data or its interpretation, or from the loss of records you did not back up. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be limited, including your statutory consumer rights.
